Tim Connelly will not be joining the Wizards front office after all.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Connelly has decided to remain with the Nuggets as their president of basketball operations. The Wizards made him a four-year offer Friday to take over as their team president, but Connelly turned them down to stay in Denver.

Denver Nuggets President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly is remaining with the franchise, league sources tell ESPN. Connelly met with Washington owner Ted Leonsis on Friday about running the Wizards.

Connelly had been impressed with Leonsis’ vision for franchise, but Denver’s Josh Kroenke made an aggressive case to keep Connelly once Wizards extended an offer over weekend, per sources. Major coup for Denver. https://t.co/Bms0TdTLkJ

Fascinated to hear what happened with Connelly & Wizards. If it was over a 5th year, it doesn't look that great to say Ernie Grunfeld got almost 20 years but you couldn't give a star a 5th to get you out of the hell EG created?

Thus, the Wizards' search for a new team president continues. The position has been open since Ernie Grunfeld was fired on April 2 after 16 years on the job.

Per Wojnarowski, Washington's search will now focus in on interim GM Tommy Sheppard, Oklahoma City vice president of basketball operations Troy Weaver, and Danny Ferry.

Washington’s search is expected to turn back toward the finalists, including OKC’s Troy Weaver, Danny Ferry and interim GM Tommy Sheppard.
