Training camp may still be a few weeks away, but that doesn't mean football players can't get some good work done.
Payne paid a visit to Fort Eustis in Newport News, Va. Monday to sign autographs and help spread the word on a new mobile dental care facility geared toward military members, retirees, and their families.
"I really didn't think I was doing a good job of reaching out to the community," Payne told reporters. "I just wanted to step it up a little bit, and what better way to do it than with the military?
"I'm very thankful for what they do for me and everybody else."
Payne is looking to step it up on the gridiron, too. The 22-year-old finished with five sacks and 56 total tackles in his rookie season in 2018 but believes he can do even more in Year 2.
