Brian Mitchell remembers an altercation with Marcus Hayes similar to Joel Embiid's

Following Marcus Hayes' locker room altercation with Philadelphia 76ers' star Joel Embiid, now Washington D.C. radio host at 106.7 The Fan Brian Mitchell talked about a similar situation he had with Hayes during his time as an Eagle.

"I shoulda did that a long time ago!" Mitchell said on Wednesday's 94WIP Afternoon Show with Ike Reese, Spike Eskin and Jack Fritz.

"Listen man, when a guy is still doing stuff he was doing in 2000, 2001, 2002 and he's still around in 2024 doing the same type of stuff and players still want to put hands on him—I'll tell you, that man is an ass. That's all it is, quite frankly."

"I still remember that argument," Reese—Mitchell's former Eagles teammate—recalled.

What did Hayes write about B-Mitch, a former Eagles' running back and punt returner, over 20 years ago?

"Something to the affect of he was old and washed," Reese said. "Now I could have the timeline mixed up—no Marcus wrote the article before the game, but I think B-Mitch went out and had a pretty damn good game and addressed Marcus either after the game or that Monday after the game."

Hayes recently got into a locker room altercation with Philadelphia 76ers' star Joel Embiid, who was suspended three games for allegedly shoving Hayes.

The incident came after Hayes included both Embiid's son and his "little brother, who tragically died in an automobile accident" in his original story for The Philadelphia Inquirer while criticizing Embiid's lack of desire to play more games.

Embiid called Hayes during his first postgame press conference since the story, which Hayes was not in attendance for. Days later, Embiid and Hayes got into the locker room altercation.

"I said something about Brian Mitchell having lost half a step years and years ago," Hayes told the 94WIP Midday Show on Tuesday when asked if he ever experienced an altercation with a player before. "It was right before Hugh [Douglas] got there. And he took offense to that and we had a locker room altercation. Then years later, Allen Iverson was misinformed about something he said during his MVP season and we had a confrontation...Brian's information was accurate, Allen's wasn't."
