EB & Bish give their instant reaction to Leonsis/Youngkin presser announcing new Virginia arena

The press conference announcing a planned Monumental Sports move to Virginia started as the final hour of Wednesday's Sports Junkies began, and finished up just before EB and Bish went off the air – and as they aired it all, the event gave them just a few final minutes to react to everything that was said.

And, as you might expect from them, it was still cautious optimism.

"Even they acknowledge there are hurdles," EB said. "They have every intention to do it, I don't doubt it, but I think Dan had an intention to build a moat, and I think there was intention from Jack Kent Cooke to move to Potomac Yard at one point, so who knows how these things play out?"

However it does, in the end, it's all business.

"He asked them for their best offer, and it sucks, because us as taxpayers often times have to foot the bill for these things," EB said, "so he's getting the best offer he can get from DC, whatever it is, Virginia's giving him the best offer, and I'm sure Maryland would probably too – and then he takes the best offer."

Valdez then played the clip of Leonsis at the presser explaining why he likes the Potomac Yard site, which Jason interpreted as evolution playing its hand.

"He's basically just telling you there, you know, we've got to keep up with the Joneses because this is what all the new complexes look like, and the rendering is exactly that," Bish said. "It's a huge 70-acre deal, with bars and restaurants everywhere, and I know what it's gonna look like when it's finally done, but that's exactly what all these new teams are doing."

"All the things he's been involved in, he is an innovator," EB replied.

Take a listen above as Eric and Jason give their takes, take some calls on the subject, and break it all down as best they could in just a few minutes!
