The Nationals have reportedly signed reliever Steve Cishek to a one-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
It is the first notable move for Washington since the lockout ended, bringing in the 12-year veteran right-hander.
Cishek pitched out of the Angels bullpen in 2021, logging 68.1 innings and pitching to a 3.42 ERA, striking out 64 in that span while allowing a pair of home runs.
The Nationals will be Cishek’s eighth different team since arriving in 2010 with the Marlins. He spent the bulk of his career in the NL East with Miami, where he pitched for six seasons. Over his career, Cishek holds a 2.85 ERA in 644.1 innings.
Cishek will try to boost a Nationals bullpen that was the second-worst in all of baseball last season with a collective 5.08 ERA.
