The Brady House era, much to Grant Paulsen’s delight, may finally be upon us.
According to multiple reports, including one from Paulsen himself, the Nationals are set to call up House on Monday, ahead of the start of a four-game series against the Rockies at Nationals Park.
Per Andrew Golden, the team is also going to recall Daylen Lile, who will be eligible to return Monday after being optioned to Triple-A on June 6.
The team opened roster spots for two additions of some sort by optioning OF Robert Hassell III and infielder Jose Tena to Triple-A Rochester following Sunday’s loss to Miami, and they have an open 40-man roster spot to add House so no move is needed there.
House, the team’s first-round pick in 2021, was a consensus Top 70 prospect in baseball prior to this year and is currently the No. 3 prospect in the organization per MLB Pipeline. He is hitting .304 with an .872 OPS, 13 homers, and 41 RBI in 65 games at Rochester this year through Sunday, and that line includes a recent tear that has seen him go .333/.357/.548 over the last month and extend his hit streak to 15 games with two knocks on Sunday.
Lile, who himself was 3-for-5 Sunday in Triple-A, has a .337 average and ,907 OPS in 26 Triple-A games, but he hit just .194 in 11 games with the big club earlier this season.
Tena was 1-for-3 Sunday to raise his average for the season to .248, with a .690 OPS and 13 RBI. Hassell was 0-for-4, and that dropped him to a .218/.228/.497 slash with one homer and eight RBI in 21 games since he was called up last month for his MLB debut.
