On Thursday night, Washington Football Team defensive back Deshazor Everett was driving when his car crashed, leaving the passenger in the accident, 29-year-old Olivia Peters, with fatal injuries.
At around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday night, Everett and Peters were traveling north on Gum Spring Road in a 2010 Nissan GT-R when the vehicle veered to the right, striking several trees and rolling over (per Sheriff's Office announcement).

Peters was taken to StoneSprings Hospital following the crash, where she ultimately passed away due to her injuries. Everett was transported to Reston Hospital Center, where he is receiving treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Washington Football Team released a statement on the fatal accident on Friday morning.
"We've been made aware of an automobile accident last night involving Deshazor Everett," the statement reads. "A passenger in his vehicle loser their life and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who lost a loved one. Deshazor is currently in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. Our team has alerted the league office and is working with local authorities as we continue to gather more information. We will have no further comment at this time."
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the cause of the crash.
Everett has been with Washington since 2015 and was signed to a three-year extension in November of 2019. Up to this point, he had appeared in all 14 of the team's games during the 2021 season.
