Peanut Tillman gives BMitch & Finlay the lowdown on what he likes about Caleb Williams

It’s Bears-Commanders on Sunday in DC, so as part of scouting the opponent, BMitch tapped into his Rolodex (he’s old, you see) and brought in one of the most legendary Bears defensive backs of all-time…and no, this isn’t a nut-free zone, ‘cause we got Peanut!

And as you might expect, Charles Tillman, who is an alumni ambassador for his old team now, likes what he’s seeing from the 4-2 Bears so far, and their own rookie QB in Caleb Williams.

“I like what I see; I went with the team to the London game, and obviously, you got the No. 1 pick so everyone's looking at the quarterback, and he's done a hell of a job thus far,” Tillman said. “He got the kets, and he’s doing fairly well; he starts off slow, but as the game progresses, I think he finds his groove and he’s decisive. Once he's got that groove going, he finds his niche and then he just starts making plays, and he looks like he’s out there having fun.”

That last word is the key one for Peanut.

“I love Caleb's enthusiasm, that’s the key to me,” Tillman said. “He looks like he's having fun when his receivers score, and that's why you play the game. Don't get me wrong, competition is great and the money is great, but we started playing this game because it was fun, and it really looks like he's having a lot of fun. That's a good thing.”

As an alumni ambassador, Tillman hangs out with the young players at times to offer advice, and he’s liking what the brass is doing by having alumni more present – sort of what Josh Harris is trying to re-build in Washington.

“They’re very positive, and they want the older guys to come around; it’s very much an open door, like, you guys built this for us, by all means come hang out and enjoy some of the success with us,” Tillman said. “So, you see guys from time to time around the building, here and there.”

But is he teaching the defense the Peanut Punch?

“I kinda walk with my chest out a bit, I’m not gonna lie; it makes me feel good! I’m extremely humbled by it, but it makes me feel good, like, damn, I started that!” Tillman laughed of his legacy. “I’m a little old dude from USL and they’re calling my name out every week! That’s pretty cool, and my kids think it’s even cooler, because they were so young when I played they didn’t know it. I’m just trying to represent, it makes me feel good and puts a smile on my face and brings a little joy to my heart.”
