The Commanders have canceled Tuesday’s schedule final day of OTAs, as first reported by our own JP Finlay with this Tweet on Monday:
“After meeting with coordinators Jack Del Rio and Eric Bieniemy, Ron Rivera has decided not to hold OTAs tomorrow and instead just conclude offseason workouts with meetings. Commanders quite happy with the spring work and don’t want to risk any more injury.”
The Commanders had been docked two OTA days due to violations of the league policy on physicality during OTA practices last year, so with this week being the final week of 2023 off-season activities, they had just the one scheduled day on Tuesday that will now contain meetings and a light workout.
JP reported it, but how did he feel about it when discussed with Brian Mitchell on their show Monday?
“I always thought you dangle out the threat of one more practice to make sure everyone works their butts off, and then you cancel that practice,” Finlay said. “I think this is a zero out of 10; it’s something coaches do in high school.
“I agree,” Brian Mitchell replied. “They do it all the time, and let’s be real: tomorrow is not going to win or lose a game in the NFL season.
JP agreed, saying, ‘a football practice with no pads on June 13 won’t make a damn of difference come Week 4 against the Eagles.’
And so, it’s off until July 27 in Ashburn, when camp begins – listen to BMitch & Finlay discuss it above!
