BMitch & Finlay: Has the RFK bill cleared a major House hurdle?

Apparently, major hurdle has been cleared in the quest to bring the Commanders home to DC.

JP Finlay doesn’t do politics, but he lives in Washington and has a buddy who is a lobbyist, so he got some inside info via text Wednesday; he had some news about the RFK bill in the U.S. House of Representatives last week, and the same source gave him big news today:

It appears as if the RFK Bill has been reported favorably in the House Natural Resources Committee, and it will go to the next step, which is the general House floor.

“It's my understanding that a lot of like bills and legislation goes into committee to die, like they send it to committee where it then just gets Xed out basically,” JP said, “but it sounds like this thing is going to the House floor.”

“I think it happns, and I think even they understand tht when Ted (Leonsis) and his crew decide they wanna go, they still gotta have something going on in that town,” BMitch replied. “If you bring that stadium back, it's gonna be like, okay, what happened?”

JP posited that every great city, from the U.S. to Paris, London, Tokyo, and even Sao Paulo, has ‘a great stadium for the citizens to enjoy spectacles’ and, yeah, not here.

“You think about the World Cup skipping DC, Taylor Swift skipping DC – like, all of these things just aren’t coming to the nation's capital,” JP said. “How far is RFK from the Capitol, two miles? It’s walkable, and the fact that this is about to get out of the House is massive.”

“If you have something that can attract them, they'll come,” Brian replied. “Things we’re hearing now, we've never heard before. And I think ultimately, like you’ve said many times, those people love photo ops. Think they want to take a photo op with Dan? That was nothing positive for them, but now, they have some of the most recognized and respected businessmen and sports people that own the team, so they definitely want that photo op.”
