BMitch & Finlay: Nicki Jhabvala on the Commanders' coaching hires so far

In the last few days, the Commanders have made quite a few additions to their coaching staff – many of them big names like Ken Norton Jr.
and Larry Izzo – and kept Ryan Kerrigan on as a defensive assistant.

One question, though, is what former Eagles OC Brian Johnson's actual role is or will be, given that the team has kept QB coach Tavita Pritchard – and maybe it's a hybrid role?

"It could be pass game coordinator or something, but it's his work with quarterbacks," Nicki Jhabvala told BMitch & Finlay Tuesday. "I think there's a lot going on with the Eagles, and I hope people aren't just looking at their offense and, and thinking, why are we bringing him in? I think there's much more to it."

The one other one some may have question on is Bobby Johnson, the new offensive line coach who was fired by the Giants after a brutal year for their line.

"I realize not all sacks are the fault of the offensive line and everything requires context, but the Giants gave up 85 sacks last year, and really struggled to develop some of the younger linemen," Jhabvala said. "You hope that pattern doesn't continue in Washington with Bobby Johnson."

JP gives that a pass, given how injured the Giants' line was, but 'Daboll didn't wait a second to fire him.'

"To me, that is one of the most important positional coaches, no matter what team you're on," Jhabvala said. "I don't know, he may be a very fine coach, I'm no expert there, but I just hope this franchise doesn't scrimp on investing in the O-line like they have done in the past."

A large chunk is set, but there's still some to go, and the combine is just a couple weeks away – take a listen to Nicki's entire rundown of the group above!
