BMitch & Finlay's reactions to Commanders picks at NFL Draft

BMitch and Finlay opened Monday’s show with their reactions to the Commanders’ draft selections, and while taking cornerbacks with their first two picks was surprising, in the end, they did address their two biggest needs.

Finlay pointed out that the team’s two biggest needs and objectives heading into the draft was the offensive line and cornerback, which were both addressed over their first four picks.

As for the top two picks, BMitch and Finlay are fans of the two defensive backs, and the potential they bring.

“I like [Emmanuel] Forbes,” Finlay said of Washington’s first-round pick. “The speed is real.

Meanwhile, BMitch says second-round pick Jartavius Martin should fit right in with Ron Rivera’s coaching style.

“When they started looking for linemen, did they see people with the grade they wanted to have? When you look at the DB from Illinois, this kid is versatile,” BMitch said. “And you know Ron loves position flexibility.”

Looking back into the sixth-round, where the Commanders took Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez, Finlay says there shouldn’t be character concerns despite Rodriguez, one of the most decorated backs in Wildcats history, serving a four-game suspension for a DUI during his collegiate career.

“We talked about this last week, character concerns versus a college kid messing up,” Finlay said. “Everything I’ve heard about Chris Rodriguez is that he’s a college kid who messed up. I’m all for that pick and that kid.”
