Jason Wright told Brian Mitchell and JP Finlay on Wednesday that the Redskins name ‘is not being considered, period’ when it comes to a Commanders rebrand.
And that led BMitch to do something he never does: he read the comments! That meaning he looked at how people on social media reacted to that news coming out…and then on Thursday, he went off on an EPIC rant that we’ll give you part of, but you can listen to all of in the link above:
“Some of you are as ignorant as they come. Jason Wright spoke based off of what he’s been told by ownership, not him, and a lot of you showed your true colors. We’re not going to sit up here and act like racism doesn’t live anymore? I saw nothing but that on the comments. Let’s stop thinking it was Jason right’s mindset to change it; the NFL was involved, and a bunch of corporations were involved. This morning, you say no one cared about this ever? I rolled into town in 1990, a young man who didn’t grow up in DC and didn’t know what was going on, and I was asked questions, so it’s always been a topic. There’s a petition going around that ha 120,000 names – you know what the last petition had? Over a million. Doesn’t that tell you there are a lot of people that don’t think like you?”
Brian went OFF on what woke means and racism and the name change and a whole lot of the tough conversation that has to be had, but it comes down to one thing: ‘green – and if someone is losing money, they’re going to adjust.’
