Bobby Hebert's description of Jayden Daniels? 'He's silky smooth'

JP Finlay definitely did NOT have Bobby Hebert singing “Hail to the Redskins” on his show on his post-Saints vs. Commanders bingo card, but it happened when Hebert joined JP and Brian Mitchell Monday after Washington’s narrow win over New Orleans.

But the appearance was ACTUALLY to discuss the game, which the Commanders won when the Saints’ last-second TD – which never should’ve happened – saw them fail a two-point conversion try at the gun.

“I can tell you what, the Saints don’t know how to finish a game,” Hebert said. “They had the thing happen in the Rams game; we were gonna be aggressive and go for two, and they run into each other. Talk about a hex or whatever!”

Regardless of the result, this was the first time Hebert has seen Jayden Daniels up close since he left LSU, so what was his take on the rookie QB?

“In these parts, we all knew about Jayden Daniels and the playmaker that he is; they should have hooked up on a couple of those long balls with McLaurin, but you can see where Dan Quinn has Washington at, and you got to give them their props,” Hebert said. “He’s smooth as silk. If I could run like that, I’d be in the Hall of Fame, because I had the intangibles! But we saw this in the SEC, in one game against Florida where they thought they had the angle but not so fast, and it didn't look like he was really running. That’s what is crazy about Jayden Daniels, how smooth he is; on that one 24-yard run, we’re all looking in the press box at each other like, ‘whoa, we’ve seen this at LSU.’”

Hebert comped Jayden to Lamar Daniels and said it ‘shows how much the QB can make a difference,’ especially in a quick turnaround like Washington has had.

“Look at where Washington was, and now, this gives fans hope. Last year they were what, 4-10, and now they’re 9-5 and in the playoff hunt?” Hebert said. “All of a sudden, you love football!”

That’s when Hebert sang ‘Hail to the Redskins’ in describing the old atmosphere at RFK, and how the name change should’ve been two syllables to keep the cadence, which maybe many fans would agree with - you can listen to that and all of Hebert’s call-in above, as he also went into the Saints’ struggles and quarterback choices, and much more!
