Eric Bickel gave his info on Tuesday that a friend of his son’s sent a text documenting Adam Peters allegedly giving Jayden Daniels a fifth-round grade after the 2022 season – and even as he said it was gossip, and he and the guys admitted it was plausible, he came under fire for the info.
Well, EB’s not going to sit back and let that happen without defending himself.
“I’m used to the HTTR guys getting upset about everything, it’s constant – God forbid you criticize Bieniemy or something, you’re everything in the book,” EB said. “So normally, I don't let it bother me, but to be honest with you what set me off was Nicki Jhabvala just taking a shot at me. She's fine, I know everyone likes her, I have no problem with her, but it was subtweet where they had Jayden Daniels at the podium saying how excited he was to meet Dan Quinn and all these other guys…well, what else is he gonna say? Dan Quinn is a douche bag, and I hate him?”
There was no need for it all, because even EB admitted it was a random text from someone and hypotheticals are thrown out all the time.
“I sent it to Drabby to ask should I even bother to bring this up, because I know if I bring this up, this exact scenario will come up; I'm not dumb, I’ve been doing this for 28 years,” EB said. “When we broke the Donovan McNabb story that he wouldn't use a wristband because he thought it made him look stupid, the same thing happened because all of the local people that don't have it mock you, and they get their sources immediately, and the team run media all denies it, and eventually, it’s all true. I know how this works – every story you break, they get bitter…and I even labeled this as GOSSIP! Maybe it’s all BS, maybe somebody's lying, that's why I said it was gossip.”
Apparently, even Jayden Daniels’ agent subtweeted our web story on it making light of the situation, and then EB got mad at Drabby about it because Drab was skeptical of the source, and it just got wild – you gotta take a listen to it all above after one last parting shot from EB:
“Did I use the word source? I said gossip multiple times, and said I was reluctant, I didn't even want to say it because again, I've done this for 30 years, I know I know how this works,” EB said. “Sometimes we participate in gossip, that's what you do as a radio talk show host. I think my role is a little bit different than Mike Florio's; his entire thing is a rumor mill, mine is entertaining radio, and if I give you a story and I say it's a story, go to the bank with it. Just like we did with a big story about the previous owner: everyone mocked it when I read the paper on it literally word for word, and what happened? Everyone acknowledged it was true. Now, this is totally different because this is gossip, and I said gossip.”
