Grant & Danny: Was Sunday a sign that Commanders' defense has turned a corner?

After giving up 36 points per game over their last four (including a win over Denver), the Commanders’ defense locked down and held the Falcons to 16 on Sunday to get back on track and even their record at 3-3.

Grant noticed, and even Danny joked that “33, 37, 34, 40 is not a powerball drawing,” he agreed.

“That’s so terrible, I don’t care who your coordinator is or who your draft picks are, that should not be happening, even in a National Football League built on offense,” Danny said. “They had two turnovers in each of their first two wins, then had one in three games since, hence the losing streak. Atlanta moved the ball, and that’s this group’s Achilles heel, but three turnovers allowed you 16 points, and bottom line, that’s why they won the game.”

Indeed, the turnover margin was huge because the offense scored once on its own accord on a drive that started on the Commanders’ side of the 50.

“The three interceptions, you could say the St-Juste pick was just kind of “anyone does that,” maybe, but I thought he did some good things to be in position, and Kendall Fuller jumped a route,” Grant said, “but the defense got the W, no doubt, and Jack Del Rio, who has had people calling for his head on a platter, I think he got the game ball, so it’s a win proverbially and legitimately and all the way around.”

So here’s Grant’s question: after seeing scheme changes, personnel moves, and some shifts elesewhere, was yesterday the start of something where they’ve ironed things out, or was it more of Atlanta’s failing and bailing the Commanders out?
