The Commanders can't say no to Hard Knocks, and Grant Paulsen is ALL FOR IT

There are four teams that are not allowed to say no if the NFL comes and asks them to be on Hard Knocks: the Bears, Jets, Saints…and the Washington Commanders.

Those are the four teams that don’t have one of the qualifiers to allow them to opt-out, and according to A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports, the first three “aren’t excited about it,” but, if the latter gets the knock…Grant Paulsen is ALL FOR IT.

“This report is about as pro-Commanders a Hard Knocks report as you’re going to get, and that’s so exciting for me,” Grant said. “I’m not doing a bit here – but this would be one of the great wins of my lifetime if the Washington Commanders were the Hard Knocks team.”

That gave Danny an idea to test Grant’s theory: he offered 10 wins and a playoff victory or Hard Knocks and whatever happens…and Grant said “Hard Knocks” immediately. It took Danny upping it to 11 wins and a fourth-quarter lead in the divisional round, and you may never get Hard Knocks, for Grant to cave, because, as the 35-year-old Paulsen noted, “they haven’t won 11 games since I was in a diaper, and the second round of the playoffs is somewhere they haven’t been since I was in high school.”

“I think you have to understand something: Hard Knocks is my favorite show; I count down to it, and I watch it religiously – years ago, I have taken notes while watching it,” the obsessed Grant said. “Now you’re going to put the Commanders on it? That would be the best.”

Darris Dameron then cued the music for the Grant Paulsen Hard Knocks Monologue of Happiness!

“I wanna see Jahan Dotson, sweat dripping off his brow looking up at the sun in a practice! I wanna see Chase Young hitting the bag with the nat sound? Come on now! ‘The NFL season is a marathon, and a practice is a snapshot…and on this day, a picture-perfect throw was delivered by Sam Howell.’”

“Here’s what I find most interesting: every coach Washington has had over the years had said no, but Ron Rivera loves himself some Ron Rivera on TV,” Danny replied. “Now you add in a new ownership agreement that’s a built in storyline, and the ‘let’s reintroduce ourselves to the public’ stance – all of the dirt, let’s clean it up as we showcase ourselves to the world.”

To be fair, Grant understands why not everyone would be excited…but even if they’re the third-best choice on paper, the Commanders, to him, are No. 1.

“The Bears have a big market and Justin Fields, and the Jets with Aaron Rodgers are the obvious answer…but if they can’t come to an agreement, the MFL should absolutely want to give the Commanders this opportunity,” Grant said. “This is a chance to garner positive headlines and be a controlled commercial to get them out there. Who needs that more than this team? It has helped some perennial loser organizations, so let’s make the lovable losers the Hard Knocks team!”

Get ready, DMV, because if it happens…Grant & Danny Watch Party Extravaganza!
