With recent reports linking the Commanders to Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick, The Sports Junkies wonder if the connection to the LSU quarterback is real, or if it is created noise to take the scent off of their pursuit of North Carolina's Drake Maye.
"I also believe this could be a smokescreen," JP said. "Nobody really knows what Adam Peters is thinking…they haven't done the Pro Days yet. There's still a lot of time.
"I would say 50 percent, maybe more of the mock drafts have them taking Jayden Daniels, the other half have them taking Drake Maye."
Still, the Junkies agree that Daniels would be the more intriguing pick, and the one that the fanbase seems to want.
"It makes more sense now because of the Mariota signing," Bishop said. "He can help Daniels in practice and what he's looking for in the RPO.
"Based on the calls we've taken over the last month or so, it's overwhelming. It's Daniels."
Cakes agrees that Daniels would be the pick to get the fans most excited about next season, so many hope that it is not a bluff from Washington, and the Daniels interest is real.
"That guy will juice this fanbase more than anybody possible for you to draft," Cakes said. "I don't see how Drake Maye's ceiling could be higher than Jayden Daniels'."
