A day after a report indicating that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos could be staging a bid to buy the Washington Commanders, a new report suggests that Bezos could be bringing a high-powered business man into the fold with him.
Per Charles Gasparino of Fox Business, Commanders owner Dan Snyder is telling the NFL he won't be selling his team for anything less than $6 billion.
This comes after The Washington Post, which is owned by Bezos, reported Thursday that Bezos has hired prominent investment firm Allen & Company, which has a specialty in transactions involving professional sports franchises, which The Post suggests represents a "concrete sign of his interest in conducting due diligence" towards a potential bid.
The NFL is "really pushing Bezos to make a bid," Gasparino adds, further noting that Bezos partnering with Jay-Z remains a possibility, although Bezos would want to retain majority control.
If that name sounds familiar, Gasparino is the one who reported earlier this month that a Commanders sale would likely take place between the Super Bowl and the NFL owners meetings, which are scheduled for March.
Jay-Z has had reported interest in Washington going back to May 2021 and has been rumored as a potential ownership partner with Bezos since Nov. 2022.
