The Washington Commanders (7-5) have a huge opportunity to gain some ground in the division on the road Sunday against the New York Giants (7-4).
Washington has struggled more than most against Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who has a 4-1 lifetime record against the Commanders despite a 19-29 career record against the entire NFL.
Commanders defensive captain Jonathan Allen spoke about what it will take to stop Jones and running back Saquon Barkley during his weekly appearance with The Sports Junkies, presented by MainStreet Bank.
"I think Daniel Jones is a guy who hurts you with his legs if you let him," Allen said on 106.7 The Fan. "And on top of that, if you get too enamored with his legs, he can take the top off and hit you over the top deep."
"And on top of that," he added, "they've got Saquon Barkley. So for me immediately as a defensive lineman, we've got to be able to stop the run with a light box. Give safe guys on the back end help, let us do what we do up front and dominate the line of scrimmage.
"And I think we have a good opportunity to do that, but they're a really good football team, so we'll see, man. I'm super excited. We're getting down to the nitty gritty, man. These are do-or-die games right now."
