JP Finlay: Snyders are not at the NFL Owner's Meetings

Who from the Commanders is in Minnesota for the NFL’s Owners Meetings?

Well, we know JP Finlay is in Minneapolis as part of the crew covering the Commanders, but here’s what we know from our resident insider: Jason Wright and CFO Karl Schreiber are there, but Dan and Tanya Snyder are not, and will not be coming at all – a huge sign about the sale in JP’s eyes.

“Dan and Tanya are not coming, period, but his lawyer, Norm Chirite, is here,” JP said. “The last meeting in Arizona, Tanya came and gave a presentation to the owners. So, if anyone is still skeptical of this sale happening, let it go. Them not being here is a huge, huge deal.”

JP went into Albert Breer’s story in MMQB Monday morning on who and what Josh Harris is, and as he says, ‘nothing guarantees wins and losses, but the fresh start is coming.’

And that talk of a fresh start brought JP to discuss the Vikings’ facilities, which are near where the meetings are taking place but are 20 minutes away from the team’s actual home, U.S. Bank Stadium, in downtown Minneapolis.

“To get the amount of acreage to build something like Minnesota was able to build would be very cost-prohibitive,” JP said. “The Vikings built a tremendous, beautiful, gigantic practice facility, high enough indoors so that punters can punt, all built on this little lake. They have what Commanders people seem to want, with the indoor/outdoor facility, with like a 10,000-seat stadium at the outdoor facility.”

“If we had something like that here, we couldn’t do it in the city,” BMitch replied.

If anything, Finlay noted, the Vikings’ facilities, and how they work, could be a template for how to build one (or even two) new facilities that are not in the same locale, but close enough to be able to utilize two different smaller pieces of property to their full extent.

You can listen to the whole discussion about that topic above, starting at about 33 minutes into the first clip, and then at the beginning of the second!
