We know how much JP Finlay loves to clown Chris Russell, but JP is lucky he wasn’t Rooster’s Dumb Dumb of the Day Tuesday!
See, JP recorded his podcast with Mitch Tischler Monday night and somehow, in discussing if Tress Way would give up No. 5 for Jayden Daniels, JP came across Way jerseys on clearance – and here’s where it gets weird.
“If you're going to make a number change, you have to pay for all the printed jerseys that already exist with that number on it – and considering there's probably a ton of Kyle Pitts jerseys in the universe because this is a business, I guess Kirk's wearing 18,” JP said, noting how Kirk Cousins switched his number in going to Atlanta. “So that got me thinking, I know there are Tress Way jerseys, but that's, it's not like it's the most popular jersey out there. Can you even buy a Tress Way jersey, or are they like individually made, like you order them or build them yourself.”
“This is a business, right, and the league is saying we're not letting you just come here and switch up numbers all the time and screw up our sales,” BMitch replied.
BMitch gets it about number changes, having talked about how he got No. 30 in Philly as a respected veteran, but to the point, JP had omitted on big fact: the jersey was an old Washington Football Team jersey from 2021 and prior.
Now, Sherlock Finlay deduced that not EVERY WFT-branded jersey was on clearance – and the ones that are, otherwise, don’t play in DC anymore.
His mistake? Posting it on Twitter/X.
“Is there something there? Probably not, but it's kind of interesting. I just thought it was interesting, and then I thought it was kind of funny above all else,” JP said. “Like, what are we talking about here? The punter has to give his jersey up for the, the guy they haven't even drafted yet?”
“You know when you're trying to be funny on Twitter, it's gonna always go the other way,” Brian replied.
Obvious statement is obvious.
“People take this stuff far, far too serious. Any assumption that I am suggesting it's a lock they're taking Daniels because of that?” JP said. “I was shocked by the volume of idiots. I blame the ones reacting.”
“When you went on that subject you knew you were gonna have some idiots talking to you,” B shot back. “I don't think you should ever be shocked by the volume of anything you put on Twitter, and every time you put something that makes total sense, somebody tells you that you're totally wrong. You have to blame yourself, too, because you put it out there knowing that you was gonna get some people that were crazy. You knew that, don't play like you didn't know.”
But hey, if you need some cheap threads and don’t care what they are, get yourself a retro someone, and listen to JP explain it all – and call out Jeff Walker for his clickbait claims – above!
