Is JP Finlay's Sam Howell hypothetical a clear case of Ashburn Syndrome?

JP Finlay had Commanders Twitter up in arms on Tuesday night after he posed the possibility that Sam Howell could exceed expectations, and as a result, Washington could surprise with a very good season.

Was that tweet an example of Ashburn Syndrome, coined by Finlay himself to describe Commanders fans expressing blind optimism?

The consensus across the board seemed to be yes, especially from Landfill, the show's appointed BS officer.

"You're using a lot of weasel words," Landfill said. "Like when the news shows a guy who was arrested and says "allegedly" they murdered somebody, then shows a video of the person murdering someone. You 100 percent think this team is gonna be good. You're Ashburn Syndroming it up and you're trying to pretend you're not so people aren't mean to you on Twitter."

Still, Finlay was defending himself.

"My season prediction is 7-10," Finlay said. "That's all I want to say here. I think this can be, in the win/loss column, a step backwards, but still a really good year for the organization.

"Just if Sam Howell proves himself to be the quarterback for the long term, that's something this franchise hasn't had."
