Ben Volin, the national NFL writer for the Boston Globe, joined the Junks from Beantown on Thursday to discuss the seemingly absurd idea of Bill Belichick being on the hot seat and the Patriots’ QB future, Aaron Rodgers’ reported pay cut to come to the Jets, what’s going on in Buffalo, and QB battles around the league.
But, of course, EB always likes to get the national perspective on the Commanders, so he asked Volin about the over/under of 6.5 wins for the Commanders, which he thinks is low – and Volin actually thinks that’s conservative at best?
“The 6.5 probably sounds about right just because of the QB situation,” Volin said. “They should have an excellent defense, you know what they’ve invested in that line and Ron Rivera is a very good defensive coach – and he’s the kind of guy you want coaching in a season of transition, because he’s a steady coach who has gone through this in Carolina. The defense will keep them competitive and they have some pieces, but the division is very tough, and with the QB situation, I have a hard time seeing the Commanders making an impact…so I might take the under.”
