The Junkies discuss Brian Davis' reported $7 billion bid for the Commanders - is it real?

Don’t get your Josh Harris Commanders hopes all the way up just yet, because it appears as if Brian Davis has once again re-entered the discussion, reportedly offering a $7 billion cash bid to trump Harris’ deal and try to steal the team.

The Junkies were the first to mention that the former Duke star was in the initial mix, and JP read the WUSA-9 story from the weekend that Davis was still possibly in with a higher, immediate offer.

“I don’t know what to make of this; I do know Dan Snyder and selling the team, and has at least one offer, and that’s it,” JP said.

Bish then noted the non-exclusive part of the Harris deal, then took credit for breaking the Davis story that “should’ve been trending weeks ago” and that he saw the check.

EB is not so sure that even with that, this has a chance to happen.

“There’s a lot of bylaws in there, and one of those is he has to be worth at least 30 percent of the bid – and there’s no way Brian Davis is worth over $2 billion,” EB said. “But, the guy is inserting himself into the situation.”

“Maybe the league won’t accept him, but the money has been submitted to the bank,” Bish shot back. “But, who knows where the money is coming from?”

We do know Davis’ money comes in part from owning Urban Echo Energy, and according to Darren Haynes’ story, he got some of the capital in a lump sum from the private investors who bought his intellectual property: a reported $50 billion idea that Davis is “the first LEED green developer in America.”

“Can you imagine going on Shark Tank and telling Kevin O’Leary you have a $50 billion idea?” EB asked. “It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard, and when you type in Urban Echo Energy, there’s literally nothing!”

“He’d get laughed out of the room,” Cakes interjected.

“That’s one of the reasons why people are discounting it, because you can’t really trust the numbers,” Bish replied.

The boys then jumped in with a Tweet from Shawne Merriman that said David doesn’t have the money and owes a lot of athletes money, so who knows exactly what’s going on.

“If it was legitimate, the league would be saying something,” Bish said.

“I read some stuff that raised red flags immediately,” EB said, to which JP noted how Davis and Christian Laettner tried to buy an NBA team and failed, and the two have had a lot of lawsuits against them.

“Better check those statements!”
