It was a Doc Walker Wednesday on a Game Show Wednesday for the Junkies, who welcomed in their favorite K9 hunter to weigh in on the state of the Commanders’ head coaching search – and much like fellow former Redskin BMitch, Doc has faith in GM Adam Peters that in the end, he will make the right decision and get the right head coach.
“I trust Adam Peters. We got to trust them to do their jobs. You just left Hekyll and Jekyll running your program, you gotta trust in the guy they got to do his job,” Doc said. “As bad as the situation we're in, you got rotten facilities, you don't have a stadium. You act as if you're like a 10, but you’re maybe a five. These people are leaving Taj Mahal facilities to come out to like a junior college facility. Are you kidding me? We think we're better than we are, but in reality, Adam Peters and this ownership group have their work cut out for them – now show me what you're made of, make something happen and find us people that can help rebuild this program.”
Oh, and when it comes to Ben Johnson pulling out of the running? Yeah, Doc isn't really that upset about that.
“I have no idea who this guy is and I don't care – all I know is he was smart enough to go, you know what? He got the caveman as head coach taking all the hits and he's got a No. 1 pick who has already been to a Super Bowl at quarterback,” Doc said. “You guys made this guy like he was the next Joe Jackson Gibbs. Show me something when you do what Bobby Slowik did in Houston, take a rookie Ohio State quarterback and turn him into Joe Namath. That's impressive, but I wasn’t impressed with Johnson.”
