The Junkies discuss Brian Davis' lawsuit against Bank of America: 'I called shenanigans right away'

Some new controversy in the Commanders sale realm over the weekend: Brian Davis, who apparently submitted a $7 billion bid to buy the team that many considered dubious at best, is suing Bank of America for $500 BILLION alleging they did not share his info with Daniel Snyder – saying Snyder would have accepted his bid had they done so – and claiming they kept $5.1 billion in wire transfers.

If you remember, the Junkies had Davis on for nearly an hour last month explaining his situation and everything around the bid, and even then, they weren’t necessarily convinced that everything was on the up and up – and after this lawsuit filing, EB, at least, is not surprised by any of it.

“I don’t think that he thought the bank was not going to submit the offer and show Snyder it was there,” Bish replied. “There’s no way he could’ve predicted that part of it, unless there’s some other stuff going on.”

Part of the lawsuit is challenging the NFL’s anti-trust laws, and one report calls the $500 billion Davis is seeking ‘a largely meaningless number aimed at creating publicity.’ But, if Bank of America really didn’t return $5 billion, then “you of course have the right to sue,” but Cakes agrees that the number in the damages seek is indeed nothing more than an attention ploy.

“Suing for $500 billion is just a headline-grabber; what’s the market capitalization of Bank of America?” Cakes asked. “There are only a few companies on Earth with a market cap of more than that.”

Either way, the question the guys have is why, if they didn’t, has the bank not returned the $5.1 billion?

“Whatever their market cap is, the guy is suing for an ungodly amount of money,” JP said.

“Unless it’s accurate they haven’t returned the money,” Bish added, but this wasn’t about that in EB’s mind.

“If he put in a $5 billion bid that was legit in any way, he’ll get his money back,” EB said. “That’s not what this lawsuit is about; he thinks he was discriminated against.”

JP reiterated that Davis had said he wasn’t going to be litigious when he was on with the Junkies, and yet, here we are.

“People are upset we gave him a platform, but he interjected himself into the story so we wanted to see what was going on,” EB said. “I basically called shenanigans during the interview, but it’s hard for Jason to do it because he’s text-friendly with the guy."

“Yeah, but I never said he should get the team,” Bish fought back. “I saw other things I never went on record with, but now I’m stepping back because another friend of mine is involved and I’m not going to release things I know because I don’t want that connection to be fractured.

JP then revealed a conversation he had with an acquaintance who thought the Saudis were going to be the Commanders, and the guys remembered Davis’ quote about the money coming from ‘white people.’

“If he had a $5 billion check, I would buy into the Saudis doing it,” JP said.

“There were farcical parts of that conversation,” EB said. “Is there such a thing as a $5 billion check?”

“We all had our suspicion it wasn’t a real bid,” Cakes laughed. “But this is all way above my head.”

Either way, Bish wonders about it just because he assumed that someone would’ve talked the Snyders that there was an offer there, and maybe they just didn’t consider it legit.

Cakes, then, had one last idea:

“My advice to Brian Davis: since this isn’t successful, just buy the Nationals!”
