Eric Bickel is REALLY upset by the fact that the Commanders’ over/under for wins in 2023 is set at 6.5, stating again Thursday (as he has for a long time) that a worse team last year went 8-8-1, so 6.5 is at least a win too low.
Of course, last year they didn’t have a quarterback question (at least not until Carson Wentz stunk), but is that enough to drop so much?
“I know it’s been that way, but what really upsets me is the drop from last season – they were at 8 last year because people thought Carson Wentz was good?” “I get it – the offensive line has changes, the schedule is more difficult, and there are questions, but I think it’s disrespectful that we’re worse.”
Bish then told him to put a good chunk of change on the over, to which EB said ‘I’m not a good gambler,’ but Jason tried to bring him back to Earth by saying ‘I think it’s a combo of the QB question mark – and Sam Howell may surprise everybody – and the schedule, which on paper, is difficult.’
“I know, but they always do this – they’ll win some games they shouldn’t, and lose some games they should win,” EB replied. “I’m not suggesting it’s a breakout year for them, but 6.5? There’s only two or three teams projected lower. I get it, they’re trying to draw in bets, but they have them picked as bottom five in the league? I’m sorry, I can’t see that.”
EB would go eight wins again, so maybe 7.5 would be better…which, in reality, is only one more, but a .500-ish team is over 6.5, right?
Take a listen to EB and the Junkies’ whole spiel, as well as some calls on the subject, starting about 17:30 into the clip above!
