JUNKIES: Scott Abraham thinks the Commanders go with an offensive head coach

Drake Maye is provisionally on Cakes' FUBAR list because Randy Mueller isn't a fan, although the guys think that will change – and as Cakes even says, 'the FUBAR list is not always 100 percent scientifically accurate.'

Scott Abraham, our guy from Channel 7, isn't quite there, but wouldn't be surprised if the Commanders don't take Maye or ANY QB at 2?

"If the guys in the room are not completely convinced and sold that this No. 2 pick that they're gonna go with a quarterback is going to be a generational talent, a franchise changer, I will not be surprised if they trade back, collect some more picks, and maybe address quarterback later in the first round," Abraham said. "I think that's such a critical moment here for the franchise because you're so dependent on this No. 2 pick to be a franchise changer. It didn't work out with Chase Young, we all know what happened there, so you better hit on this one – and especially if you go quarterback," because it's gonna set you back another three to four years."

On the more pressing front, though, Abraham agrees with Boomer Esiason and others when it comes to the head coaching search.

"I think I think Ben Johnson is the front runner," Abraham said. "Obviously what he's done with Detroit and revitalizing the career of Jared Goff, it's been a fun offense to watch."

Don't count out, though, Washington going the way of Houston?

"I look at Bobby Slowik and he kind of intrigued me, because he took over kind of a dumpster fire down there. They were not supposed to be where they are this year, and what he's done with a rookie quarterback in CJ Stroud?" Abraham said. "Big play offense and he's really blossomed in year one, so I think that has a lot to do with Bobby Slowik, which makes me look at the Commanders situation, where it's gonna be similar that they're probably gonna have a young rookie quarterback and Slowik has already worked his magic with that type of a young quarterback – could he do the same here in Washington?"

Slowik or Johnson seem to have the leg up, because Abraham thinks hiring a defensive-minded coach doesn't jive with the structure of a young GM and a young QB, and makes the offensive coordinator hire much more imperative than it would the other way around with a DC under one of the other guys.

Oh, and no, Eric Bieniemy isn't going to be in that mix.

"I don't know if you give him a shot in Washington, because it was very revealing in locker clean out day where there was a couple of players that were very vocal and open about the disconnect on offense," Abraham said. "I don't know if that can be fixed or needs to be fixed if he does get another opportunity, but I think they interviewed him because there's a respect factor. He came over with knowing the situation that this was a make or break year for Ron Rivera and the coaching staff, and he bet on himself. And, I think there's a respect factor of, you know, you gave Washington a chance and we're gonna give you a chance of trying to be the head coach here. He's more than ready, and I love EB, but I think it was a respect factor there with the ownership group to give him a look."
