JUNKIES: Trevor Sikkema is leaning towards a Johnson-Maye offense in DC come this summer

PFF's Trevor Sikkema joined the Junkies Monday morning to give his takes on NFL conference championship weekend, and one of the things that came out of it is that the four Lions and Ravens coaches on the Commanders' initial interview request list are now fully available.

"I love that, because of what we think is going to be a new quarterback coming in," Sikkema said. "Not that I was praying on Ben Johnson's downfall, but it was going so well for him for two straight years, I was waiting for the dud game – and it never came. Very week, even to what we saw yesterday, it was magic."

If it is Johnson, then, which current Commanders offensive player will see the biggest boost?

"I think it's Terry McLaurin; what Ben Johnson has done is identify really talented players, and simply get gotten the ball into their hands in as many ways ad possible," Sikkema said. "Think about what he has done with Amon-Ra St. Brown – he wasn't valued enough on draft weekend, but Johnson identified his strengths. He will look at McLaurin and say we have our Amon-Ra St. Brown on the roster, a use him in all ways at all times type player."

Okay, so we have the regime, and it seems the coach – but after giving his thoughts on Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, Sikkema is leaning one way based solely on what he has seen Johnson do in Detroit.

"I still have Maye as my QB2 and if he's on the board, that's who I'm taking, but you never know," SIkkema said. "A chef can only work with the ingredients in the kitchen, and you never know what he wants to make, but from what we have seen from Jared Goff, Maye has shown to be able to do a lot of that at a very high level."
