JUNKIES: What would be an acceptable trade return for Chase Young?

Possibly trading Chase Young, or Montez Sweat, or anyone on the Commanders is going to be a big topic until either it happens, or the NFL trade deadline passes next Tuesday – so the Junkies wanted to know, in the poll of the day, if you think the ‘Manders should deal Young and/or Sweat.

Apparently, there has been some sort of formal offer for Sweat, beyond conjecture, but we don’t know what it is – and that led the Junks to wonder what might be a proper return for Sweat?

EB was surprised a bit by Kevin Sheehan’s take from Wednesday that he doesn’t want to deal Young, because he’s a local kid, and wouldn’t take anything lower than a second-round pick at worst…so what is your threshold?

“Think about what people got for Sam Bradford seven or eight years ago, right? Two or three first-rounders?” EB said. “Some people get you outrageous compensation now – I’m not suggesting you trade Chase, but if you go by the mantra that ‘anything is better than nothing when you get them at the end of the year,’ you could make that argument, or you could make the argument that he's still valuable to us, and we still have the opportunity to re-sign him or franchise him.”

Bish and Cakes believe the Commanders are thinking keep him and try to make the playoffs, but JP noted the Dolphins traded a first-round pick for Bradley Chubb, who had a much better rep than Young does now but is a similarly productive player in recent years.

So can we expect that?

“I’m just saying it's similar and, I'm not saying that Chase Young is worthy of a first round pick, but I'm saying Bradley Chubb netted a first round pick, with other parts of the deal,” JP said. “My threshold would be a third round pick, because I'm afraid that he's going to leave, and I don't think they're gonna be able to keep both guys and sign both guys. You could sign one and franchise the other, but I don't know that you're gonna want to spend that kind of money on the defense.”

Third round is Cakes and Bish’s cut-off as well, although Jason would love to know what the offer is for Sweat, perhaps as a comparison – and they both also think third-rounder is the threshold there, too.

Take a listen above as the guys discuss possible Sweat/Young deals – including thoughts from callers and Tweeters – as well as some other players around the league who could or should be on the move, and what their compensation could look like!
