The Sports Junkies: Should Commanders take a shot on QB Malik Willis?

The Junkies raised the question to EB whether quarterback Malik Willis was worth looking into, as the second-year quarterback could be let go by the Titans.

EB didn’t seem too interested.

“They’re not gonna turn the job over to Malik Willis. They’re paying Jacoby Brissett $8 million. If they want to make him third string and cut Jake Fromm? Sure. I’m not saying Malik Willis would be awful. I have no idea. But we’re not pivoting at this point.

“I understand he actually did OK in minicamps, so he might have saved himself…listen, Malik Willis may end up finding a home, and he has some ability and a pretty big arm…but I’m just, no, pass.”

Willis was thrown into the fire last year after being selected 83rd overall, and posted a 50.8 percent completion percentage with no touchdowns and three interceptions, but EB isn’t high on Willis in Washington, and would put him third on the Commanders current depth chart.

“Now, if Howell fails and Brissett fails and we’re still in a quagmire for a quarterback, then maybe bring him in next year.”
