The Commanders have only been in existence, at least in nomenclature, for about 14 months - so why does Danny Rouhier want another new name if and when the team is sold?
"I wonder if I’m the weird one, because I can’t separate the name from the nonsense. The name to me IS the burgundy of lies!” Danny said. “That’s what the name is, but is that me being weird?”
Grant understood Danny’s thought, but explained he COULD separate the name from the nonsense, and “set that aside as the terrible rollout I hated.”
“I don’t think about it unless someone brings it up. I don’t hear Commanders and go “ugh, 2-2-22,” Grant said.
“No, when I hear Commanders, I think that nonsense song, and the 90 Greatest with misspellings and dudes in wrong jerseys and Doug Williams being left-handed,” Danny responded. “IT’S TERRIBLE! THE TERRIBLE IS SO TERRIBLE AND SMACKS YOU IN THE FACE LIKE A WET FISH! Every day, all the suckitude…BARF! I’d like to activate the vomit it induces. Fart noise. FART. NOISE. It’s so reprehensibly terrible, the name encapsulates the badness! How has it grown on anyone? Like, change it yesterday!”
All Grant could do as Danny ranted was laugh, as he went on about the burgundy being “the same burgundy” and the theme song and everything…and man, someone get Danny a snack!
