With the 2019 season all over with the Washington Redskins stuck at 3-11, there is the only question that matters: Who will be in charge of the cleanup?
Hall, who was seen at Redskins practice this week with Allen, made his interest in joining the team's front office known recently and told NBC Sports Washington, "I've always wanted to be a part of this front office and help make the Redskins a dominant team again."
Finaly said Friday it is hard not to read into the reports of the relationship between Allen and Snyder worsening in recent weeks because there has been a "stark difference" to how things were in the past.
"The two of them were almost always together," Finlay said on The Fan. "When Dan was (at practice) it almost always seemed like Bruce was right next to him and I would say, since October that hasn't been the case."
Finlay added the two went into the locker room together before Washington played in Green Bay and said "it's not like they're not speaking, but their relationship just seems very, very different than what it was even the beginning of the season, in training camp. I don't know what that means, but I don't think it means nothing."
And that is how things will be for the time being: Will Allen remain a member of the organization and be able to influence football decisions or not? Indications are there is smoke, but no fire. And fire may not even be that big of an issue for the wily, longtime team president to navigate.
"Is there some smoke? Certainly. But this dude's also a firefighter. You never know. Bruce Allen has dodged so many bullets with the organization, embarrassing situations, the record is what it is. The record is so bad that you almost don't need to point to anything else for a (reason as to) 'Why could this happen?' But it's never happened in 10 years. So don't believe it until it's all the way official," Finlay told The Junks.
And Finlay said earlier this week held the Redskins held their first meetings in preparation of the 2020 NFL Draft with their area scouts in Ashburn and Allen was "leading those meetings like he always has."
As they say at Redskins Park, "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." (The more things change, the more they stay the same.)
