John Feinstein tells the Junkies Bradley Beal trade 'would be a good thing'

It’s another Feinstein Friday for the Junks – with a reminder that John’s new book “Feherty” makes a great Father’s Day gift – and this week, the guys discuss watching golf and tennis, Day 1 of the U.S. Open (and how east the course looks so far), and the Vegas Golden Knights winning the Stanley Cup!

He also discussed the Bradley Beal trade rumors, and, well, those are a good thing in his eyes.

“I think there’s no doubt Michael Winger wants to do it, which is a good thing,” Feinstein said. “I think the idea is to start from scratch and break up the team, and if they’re bad and higher up in the lottery next year, that’s good.”

Beal is ‘a terrific player and good guy’ in Feinstein’s eyes, but the Wizards haven’t won anything, and didn’t even make the expanded playoffs the last two years, so it’s time for a reboot.

“You have to look at it and know this isn’t good enough,” Feinstein said. “It should happen, but it’s not that easy – but if you can get Kyrie Irving traded multiple times, you can get anyone traded. When the Wizards make this deal, they won’t get a good deal because of the contract, but he needs to go somewhere he’s the second or third option, not the first option; if he’s not the first option, he can be a very good player for someone.”
