Apparently unfazed by the blockbuster trade that went down hours earlier, seven-footer Kristaps Porzingis thought he’d get some grub at a local sandwich shop (East Hampton Sandwich Company in Dallas) Thursday before heading to American Airlines Arena, where the Mavericks would be hosting the Clippers later that night.

According to Twitter user @jacobaderich, who had also stopped by East Hampton for a late lunch, that’s when Porzingis got out of line to answer a phone call, presumably to learn he had just been traded to the Wizards.
This was his reaction to that news.
You’d think a career-altering call like that would send Porzingis running out of the building, but instead, he got right back in line. Either the 26-year-old was starving or East Hampton makes a darn good sandwich.
Acquired from the Knicks in 2019, Porzingis averaged an even 20 points per game over his three-year stint in Dallas (134 games), though his style of play never quite meshed with All-Star Luka Doncic. The oft-injured big man had missed Dallas’ previous five games with a bruised knee, but was thought to be nearing a return.
