Jacksonville, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the first time in 33 years, the Buffalo Bills go on the road in the playoffs and earn a victory, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-24, on Sunday in the AFC Wild Card Round at EverBank Stadium.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen picks up his first-career road postseason win, as he carried Buffalo to a win and a trip to the AFC Divisional Round next weekend.
The Bills began the game by kicking off after differing the coin toss and the Jaguars would start their first offensive drive of the game inside their own 30-yard line.
The Bills defense would start the game on a big note forcing Lawrence and the Jaguars to a three-and-out and punting the ball deep inside the Bills side of the field.
Allen and the offense were able to put together a few good plays for their first drive of the game but were unable to find any points as they would punt the ball away putting the Jaguars offense back on the field at their own 20-yard line.
Shaq Thompson would force the first turnover of the game as he picked of Lawrence for a 19-yard interception return to setup the Bills offense in good field position.
Allen and the offense were unable to find the endzone following the turnover as they had to settle with a 50-yard field goal from Matt Prater to take the first lead of the game.
The Jaguars wasted no time to take a lead of their own after coming back onto the field as Lawrence connected with Brian Thomas Jr. for a three-yard touchdown pass putting them up over the Bills 7-3.
After the Bills lost the kickoff to a fumble and put the Jaguars in a good position their defense made a key fourth down stop to keep Lawrence and the offense off the board still only trailing by one possession.
The Bills offense would march down the field after taking over possession to regain their lead after Allen would rush two-yards into the endzone making it 10-7.
Coming back onto the field the Jaguars tried to build a drive of their own but the Bills defense would force them to punt the ball hoping to extend the lead as Allen and the offense would come back onto the field with under five minutes left.
The Bills were unable to get any points on their drive as the Jaguars got a chance of their own before the half ended to tie the game but Cam Little missed his 54-yard field goal attempt and each team went into the locker room with the Bills leading 10-7.
After receiving the second half kickoff the Bills offense were not able to find the endzone and had to settle for a 47-yard field goal from Prater to extend their lead to six.
The Jaguars offense would be able to get points on their drive following the Bills score as they had to settle with 43-yard field goal from Little to cut into the Bills lead 13-10.
Allen and the offense could not put a drive together after they came back onto the field as they punted the ball and the Jaguars would retake their lead for the first time since the first half as Lawrence connected on a 6-yard touchdown pass to Parker Washington.
The Bills offense would come back on the field and built a drive to retake their lead when Allen connected on a 15-yard pass to Dalton Kincaid to find the end zone.
Lawrence would put together a drive for the Jaguars offense as they marched down the field in a late back-and-forth game to retake their lead with a 14-yard pass to Travis Etienne to find the endzone.
With barley a minute left in the game Allen would retake the lead for the Bills as he would rush it in one-yard for a touchdown to make it 27-24.
As Lawrence was given one last chance with under a minute left the Bills defense came up big with Cole Bishop getting an interception to seal the Bills first road playoff win since 1992.
