OPINION: Howard Picks the Bills: Week 2

How is Howard Simon feeling about the Bills after Sunday's dramatic win over the Ravens?

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills opened their 2025 season on Sunday in dramatic fashion with a historic come-from-behind victory over the Baltimore Ravens, 41-40, in the final home opener at the current Highmark Stadium.

It was a very up-and-down contest for the Bills, with the offense getting off to a great start, but then faltering throughout up until the later stages of the fourth quarter. As for the defense, the Bills were dominated for much of the game, with Baltimore running the ball down Buffalo's throats with running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson.

With 7:16 left on the clock and the Bills getting the ball back after forcing a Ravens punt, that's when quarterback Josh Allen and the offense went to work, with the reigning NFL MVP having one of the best fourth quarter performances in NFL history.

In the fourth quarter alone, Allen recorded 251 passing yards and scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one passing. Overall, Allen finished the game by going 33-of-46 for 394 yards and two passing touchdowns, while adding 30 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

After one final defensive stand to force a three-and-out of the Ravens offense and trailing 40-38, Allen and the offense had some work to do with just over a minute on the clock and no timeouts.

It took Allen a couple of long completions to the likes of Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman to set up 41-year-old Matt Prater for a 32-yard field goal as time expired in the game to complete a historic 15-point comeback for Buffalo in the final four minutes of the game.

Following Buffalo's come-from-behind victory, the team will next shift focus to its first divisional matchup of the season in Week 2 against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

While the Jets managed to surprise many in their Week 1 performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York came out on the short end of the stick in a 34-32 loss at home.

Jets quarterback Justin Fields had a decent day, throwing for 218 yards and one touchdown, while also accounting for two more touchdowns with his feet.

Sunday night's dramatic win had Howard Simon feeling good about the Bills during the Week 2 edition of "Howard Picks The Bills".

Not only does Howard sees the Bills carrying that momentum over in a Week 2 win over the Jets, but he feels Buffalo can continue their victorious run with five-straight wins to open the year.

Just like his Week 1 run of picks, though, Howard feels the run of wins will come to an end just before the bye week in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football".

Coming out of the bye, Howard sees the Bills getting back on track with three-straight wins over the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins to improve to 8-1 on the season.

From there, it's plenty of up-and-down results on the schedule for Howard, as he picks the Bills to finish the final eight games of the year with a 4-4 record. That's still good enough, though, for the Bills to end the season with a 12-5 record, a likely AFC East title, and possibly another pair of playoff games in the final season at the current Highmark Stadium.
