Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - All through training camp it has seemed like the chemistry between Josh Allen and newly acquired D.J. Moore has grown. In March, Brandon Beane acquired Moored from the Chicago Bears. Buffalo also got a fifth-round pick and gave up a second-round selection.
Training camp has moved from Rochester to Orchard Park and the Bills did some goal line work. Moore got himself open for Allen who was flushed from the pocket for a touchdown. There are always expectations around the Bills because of Allen and now that Moore is here as his No. 1 receiver, the expectations will fall on him too, but he doesn't care.
"I don't really worry about expectations, I just go out there and be me each and every day to try to get better and better and be on the up side of things around here."
One player that has noticed this new connection between Moore and Allen is Khalil Sharkir. He said,
"Their connection has been unreal, it's a beautiful thing to see the connection there and the stuff they've done every single day and the growth that has come within that is going to help us win games."
Shakir was asked about some people that are saying that Moore no longer has it. Shakir actually couldn't believe that anyone would think that,
"I think whoever is saying that should delete their social media, the dude is unreal. The way he practices, the dude that he is, the football player that he is, he's a real football guy and some of the stuff I've seen him do and the way I've seen him talk about the game, it's unreal.
"It's actually a blessing to be around him and to pick his brain. I mean he's absolutely unreal."
Moore was in Carolina with the Panthers while now Bills head coach Joe Brady was an assistant. Moore said of course it's different,
"When he was in Carolina he was on people a lot, now that he's in this major role, as being a head coach, I feel like he's made it more known that this is the details about how we're going about things. so you've got to wear a hardhat every day with him and he wants the best out of everybody."
Safety Dee Alford spent four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before coming to Buffalo. In goal line he did a terrific job covering Josh Palmer as they sprinted across the back line of the end zone, but on the next play, he got beat by Keon Coleman for a touchdown. Alford likes going up against the guy like Moore,
"It was just relying on my technique, it was good-on-good, you have guys like D.J. Moore who have been in the league for a long time and he's solidified himself on multiple teams, so just to be able to compete against those guys it show we're able to grow and get better every day going against each other and that's what I love about it, it's good-on-good both sides, no matter who wins we've got great depth here and it shows on the field."
Not practicing Monday were Connor McGovern, Skyler Bell, Cole Bishop, Maxwell Hairston, Ja'Mori Maclin, Zane Durant, D.J. Miller and Mitch Wishnowsky. Ty Johnson and Stephen Gosnell were out there for a bit, but left.
Something to keep an eye on is linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr getting first-team reps.
