Sabres part way with Jason Karmanos

Karmanos was hired by Kevyn Adams as an associate general manager, and also served as the general manager of the Amerks

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekalainen has made his first move in his new role, and it comes in the front office.

Kekalainen has fired associate general manager Jason Karmanos on Saturday. Karmanos was also the general manager of the Rochester Americans.

Kevyn Adams hired Karmanos in April of 2021, and he served as the only experienced sounding board in the hockey department. Karmanos came to Buffalo after spending six years with the Pittsburgh Penguins, three of which were as assistant general manager.

"Buffalo Sabres associate general manager/Rochester Americans general manager Jason Karmanos has been relieved of his duties. We thank Jason for his contributions to the Buffalo Sabres and Rochester Americans, and wish him the best in his future endeavors," said Kekalainen in a brief statement.

The Sabres host the New York Islanders on Saturday at 5 p.m. Pregame coverage on WGR starts at 4 p.m. when you’ll hear from Lindy Ruff, starting goalie Alex Lyon and Michael Kesselring.
