The Aaron Judge sweepstakes reached a boiling point on Tuesday when it was reported that he “appeared headed” to the Giants only for that report to be retracted.
But once the dust settled on that report, another one emerged and once again it linked Judge to the Giants, but with a twist.
Former MLB player Carlos Baerga, who correctly posted on Instagram that the Mets would sign Justin Verlander, posted on his social media account Tuesday that the Giants “could also be signing” free agent shortstop Carlos Correa, too.
Baerga, who spent 14 years in the majors, seems like a pretty random source and by no means is an actual reporter, so that that for what it is worth.
However, he was the first to report on Verlander to the Mets and was first on Marcus Semien to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021.
He has also said that Freddie Freeman would sign with the Blue Jays and was wrong on that, with the first baseman instead signing with the Dodgers.
So his record is not 100% but with his recent report on Verlander, it is at least worth entertaining the possibility Baerga may know something the rest of us do not.
