During his time at Furman, Williams was an integral part of their success helping the program make the SoCon Tourney Finals this past season and post 20 win seasons, three times. The hire gives Williams his first opportunity as a Head Coach at the college level.

Prior to his time at Furman, Williams had successful stints as an Assistant at William Jewell College in Missouri, North Greenville University and Texas Wesleyan among others. He becomes the 5th coach at Anderson since they became a 4 year school in 1995. Williams replaces Jeff Brookman who resigned earlier this year, after the program posted two consecutive winning seasons.
