It was another milestone moment for a women's college basketball program from the Upstate, Wednesday night. The Presbyterian College Women got their 1st ever Division I NCAA Tournament Win. They downed Sacred Heart 49-42 in the Columbia Regional.
It was a strong defensive performance for PC as they gave up just 17 1st half points and led by 12 at the break. They struggled in the 3rd quarter though, scoring just 6 points and led 35-30 going into the 4th. PC would hit 4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.
The Presbyterian program this season has achieved so many program first, winning an NCAA Tournament game, winning the Big South Conference and winning 21 games which is a single-season program record since their move to Division 1 about 15 years ago.
However, the historic ride will likely come to an end, as PC now moves on to square up with unbeaten South Carolina, the tournament's top overall seed. That game is set for a 2PM tipoff Friday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
