
The national title defense for South Carolina Women's Basketball continues after they handled South Florida, Sunday in the NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks continued their unbeaten season with a blowout victory over USF.
The Gamecocks trailed 16-12 after the 1sat quarter. They used a 21-13 2nd quarter advantage to lead 33-29 at the half. South Carolina dominated the 2nd half outscoring USF 43-16 after the break to win 76-45.
Zia Cooke led the way for the Gamecocks, with a game high 21 points. All-American Aaliyah Boston had a double-double of 11 points and 11 boards. The Gamecocks had a huge advantage on the offensive glass , 24-8 which propelled them to the 31 point victory.
South Carolina will now come to Greenville for the Regional Semifinals. They'll be in action Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Gamecock program has now made the Round of 16 in every NCAA Tournament since 2014.
The Gamecocks are now four wins away from becoming just the 5th D-1 Women's program in history to go undefeated and win the national title. Texas, Baylor, Uconn and Tennessee are the others.
