Six teams from the Carolinas make NCAA Tournament field

The Carolinas will be well represented as the NCAA Men's Tournament tips off this week. 6 teams total, three from South Carolina and three from North Carolina will all be in action Thursday or Friday. The line up is below.

Clemson is the 6 seed in the West Region. They'll take on 11 seed New Mexico from the Mountain West. Those two meet Friday in Memphis. It's Clemson's 1st NCAA trip since 2021 and just their third since 2011,

South Carolina is the 6 seed in the Midwest region. They will take on 11 seed Oregon in Pittsburgh, Thursday. It's the 1st NCAA appearance for South Carolina since their run to the Final Four in 2017.

College Of Charleston has made the tournament, this season marks back-to-back CAA Titles for the program. The Cougars are in the West Region, they are a 13 seed and have drawn 4 seed Alabama. That game is set for Friday.

Three North Carolina teams have made the field and will try to "survive and advance". The Tar Heels are the #1 seed in the West Region, after going 27-7 during the season. UNC won the ACC Regular Season Standings and lost in the ACC Tournament Finals. North Carolina will take on the winner of Howard vs Wagner, Thursday in Charlotte.

Duke is the 4 seed in the South Region. They will take on 13 seed Vermont in Brooklyn, Friday. Duke has made the NCAA Tournament every year, but one that (2021) it's been held since 1996.

NC State won the ACC Title as a dark horse. They were not expected to make the NCAA Tournament prior to the ACC Tournament. However, the Wolfpack became the 1st team in ACC Tourney history to win five games in as many days. NC State is the 11 seed in the South Region. They'll take 6 seed Texas Tech, Thursday in Pittsburgh.

South Carolina is the the top overall seed in the women’s NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks are looking to become the 10th women’s basketball team to go undefeated for an entire season.
