
South Carolina was a winner, cruising past North Carolina in the Shrine Bowl Of The Carolinas, Saturday. The Palmetto State All-Stars shutout the Tar Heel squad 24-0 on Saturday at Viking Stadium on the campus of Spartanburg High School.
The defense for South Carolina gave up less than 50 total yards and was able to get pressure on the quarterback consistently. South Pointe's Zantwan Nelson was named most valuable on defense and Rock Hill QB Matthew Wilson was named the Offensive MVP.
Multiple D-1 prospects from Upstate schools were on display Saturday such as NC State Commit Tank Boston from Westside-Anderson. Greenville High O-Lineman and future Gamecock Blake Franks and Christ Church of Greenville RB Dashun Reeder who is going to Northwestern.
This year marked the 87th annual installment of the Shrine Bowl Of The Carolinas, making it the longest running high school all-star game for both states. The game helps to raise funds for the Shriners Children's Hospital of Greenville.
