South Carolina Women prep for 4th Final Four since 2015

Dawn Staley arguably has been the most impactful hire of all-time for South Carolina Athletics. Gamecock Women's Basketball has become a national power. They won it all in 2017 and are the favorite to do it again this year. South Carolina is making its 4th Final Four appearance since 2015 and remember the 2020 was cancelled due to covid-19.

The Gamecocks will take on Louisville in the Final 4. Three #1 seeds are still standing in the season's final weekend. The other team is a 2 seed but is stand setter in Women's Basketball in the Uconn Huskies.

Let's look at the path South Carolina has had to get to the Final 4. The Gamecocks destroyed 16 seed Howard in the 1st round, 79-21. They followed that with a 49-33 victory over Miami. In the Sweet 16, they outlasted North Carolina 69-61. It was a "no-doubter" in the Elite 8 as they crushed Creighton , 80-50.

Louisville is making just their 2nd Final Four in program history. They have never won the National Title, their other Final 4 appearance was in 2018. The Lady Cardinals opened their tourney run by thrashing 16 seed Albany, 83-51. They then dispatched Gonzaga 68-59 in the 2nd round. They downed traditional power Tennessee 76-64 in the Sweet 16. In their 3rd Elite 8 appearance since 2019, they had a double digit W over Michigan, 62-50.

The Women's Final 4 and National Title game will air on the Fan Upstate. South Carolina will take on Louisville at 7 PM Friday night. Uconn will take on Stanford at 9:30 Friday. The National Title Game is set for Sunday.
