The name of the new minor league baseball team coming to the Upstate has now been revealed. Spartanburg's new team will be called the Hub City Spartanburgers. The team mascot will be a hamburger.
The announcement was made Saturday night during a block party on Daniel Morgan Avenue in downtown Spartanburg. The team will play in the new Fifth Third Park, the 3,500 seat stadium is the centerpiece of the largest development in the history of Downtown Spartanburg.
The team will be a Single A affiliate of the Texas Rangers organization. The Spartanburgers will begin playing in the Hub City next year.
