(670 The Score) White Sox prized prospect Luis Robert has proved he can make an impact at every level he has played at in the minor leagues, and he certainly has wasted no time showing that following his recent promotion to Triple-A.
In his debut at Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday night, Robert hit two home runs -- including a grand slam -- while driving in seven. That certainly caught the attention of White Sox director of player development Chris Getz, who joined the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning.
"We've seen flashes of this, whether it be in spring training or prior seasons," Getz said. "But, man, right from day one to where we're at today, it's been very impressive.
"He continues to show us what he's capable of doing."
A 21-year-old outfielder and MLB.com's No. 5 prospect, Robert has 18 home runs, 61 RBIs and a slash line of .353/.406/.634 in 79 games split between High-A, Double-A and now Triple-A in 2019.
The White Sox have already called up prospects Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease this season, which begs a new question: What's the organization seeking in Robert before deciding to promote him to the big leagues?
"From my perspective, we just continue to challenge these players," Getz said. "Each level is a different challenge. Every guy reacts differently. Now, we're at a new level in Charlotte, Triple-A. More seasoned pitchers, more advanced players overall, different hitting environment. He's shown that it hasn't been much of an issue so far.
"There's little game refinements along the way -- defensively, commanding the outfield, communicating with his fellow outfielders. On the basepaths, very aggressive player -- make sure he's taking the proper spots to take a base. Offensively, he's shown what he's able to do to a baseball. He hits a ball hard. He can hit a lot of different pitchers within the zone.
"Now, they're going to pitch him a little bit differently now that he's shown he can hit balls hard in different portions of the zone. Are they going to expand him off the zone? How is he going to react?"
