(670 The Score) White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease has been placed on the COVID-19 related injured list, the team announced Wednesday.
Cease hasn't tested positive for the virus but has experienced symptoms of illness. The White Sox recalled right-hander Zack Burdi from their alternate site to replace Cease on the roster.
"This is a precautionary move," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said.
Cease, 25, has a 3.86 ERA in two starts this season.
The White Sox haven't yet determined whether Cease will make his next start Friday or when he'll be activated. Hahn declined to reveal the team's contingency plan for the rotation.
The White Sox last Thursday vaccinated more than 90% of their traveling party.
